Clara M. Jackson was a legendary Woman & Librarian in the City of McFarland, CA -- this branch of the Kern County library system was named for her some years back....it is a new library that was built on Kern Ave, it is adjacent to the Kern Avenue School. Clara M. Jackson was so nice and helpful to School kids and members of the McFarland community during her career as librarian and was well deserving of having a Kern County public library with her name attached to it.

this is the Mi Ranchito Market in McFarland, CA -- this Market at one time was the Community Market or Eloy's Market, anyway it has changed owners a few times over the years. McFarland is one of the few communities you left in California with out a lot of major Supermarkets or Chain stores, McFarland has a McDonalds and a Subway Sandwich Store, and that is about rge extent of it. The City has a lot of family owned businesses that are surviving the storm the country is having financially. Once the Almond , tree fruit and Table Grape harvests are in full swing the Community thrives for several months.

McFarland , Bakersfield and Los Angeles , three great Cities in California ...I'd Go Back to these Cities , and it is under a 2 hour drive to Los Angeles from McFarland, Bakersfield is about a 20 minute drive from McFarland. many people live in the farming community of McFarland and work in Bakersfield or even commute to Los Angeles . Many truck drivers live in the area and make trips daily to Los Angeles.

  • So many memories in McFarland, going way back....going to school with most of the same friends from Kindergarten all the way to high school graduation, 4-H, Ranch House Cafe, Snow White Drive Inn, Twirlwinds (anyone remember?), the Halloween carnival on the football field, crop dusters buzzing our house, and many more. Couldn't wait to get out of there, now I wish I could go back more often. Isn't that always the way it is!?
