One Technique Does Not Fit All :
At most Los Angeles day spas you'll find a menu of massage services. But at the Center, the only choice you have to make for your massage is how long you want your session to last. That's because we believe that most of the time, a single massage technique doesn't "fit all".
Since 1988, the massage therapists and estheticians at the Center have performed more than 250,000 customized massages for more than 30,000 clients in the Los Angeles area, each uniquely personalized to provide genuine lasting benefits.
If you do know specifically what style of massage you prefer, please let us know when you book your session and we'll match a therapist to your specific needs. Otherwise, merely tell us how you feel when you come in, and our therapists will use a variety of styles to create a custom session just for you. There is no additional charge for advanced techniques including Deep Tissue, Sports, Shiatsu, Pregnancy, etc.
Please note that not all therapists use every technique, so if you know you like a specific style, just ask when you book your appointment and we will be pleased to match you with the best therapist for your specific request.

The right people in the right place
Even the greatest massage therapists and estheticians would be hard-pressed to deliver a perfect treatment without an environment that supports their art. Here are a few things that differentiate our sessions from the common spa:
* Full 60 or 90–minute sessions-Never 50 or 80 minutes-So you never feel rushed.
* Practitioners always have at least a 15-minute break between sessions so they are rested and refreshed for your session.
* Never an extra charge for advanced massage techniques like Deep Tissue or Shiatsu, you always pay the same flat rate whether your request a specific technique or have your therapist custom craft your massage from a range of specialties.
How did the Massage Therapy Center begin?
Our founder is the chairman of the California Massage Therapy Council, California’s statewide massage certification board, and was one of the country's most respected massage therapists and massage instructors. He is a past president of the California chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association.
As a practitioner, his practice attracted an international clientele which included world leaders, business moguls, accomplished dancers, spiritual leaders, and a roster of Hollywood personalities which resembled the VIP list of the Oscars ®.
But his dream was to create a place that would be home to some of the country's best master-level massage therapists.
On June 2, 1988, his dream came true-the day the Center first opened. Over the last 20 years, The Massage Therapy Center has built a roster of more than 30,000 clients, many of whom are massage therapists themselves (the ultimate testimonial), and was named "the largest and most prestigious" center for therapeutic massage in the country by Massage Magazine.
We are proud to say that both clients and therapists from our first days are still at the Center today.
We are equally proud to be a home for some of the top skin care professionals in Los Angeles. Now you can trust your skin to the same place you've trusted your body since 1988.
